LOS ANGELES (AP) — Oregon’s athletic director says the school is conducting an “extensive review” of the football program’s use of outside recruiting services.
Athletic director Rob Mullens acknowledged the review in a statement Tuesday before Pac-12 media day.
The Ducks say they’ve retained a law firm to assess the program. They’re conducting the review in collaboration with the NCAA and the conference.
The Ducks paid $25,000 to a Houston-based recruiter last year for an apparently outdated scouting report, and the NCAA is investigating whether the recruiter steered star running back Lache Seastrunk to Oregon. Recruiter Willie Lyles has said his services went beyond the normal scope of a scouting service.
Coach Chip Kelly hasn’t commented on the situation, but is expected to address questions for the first time at media day.
