PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Police say a man was holding a loaded handgun when he was arrested at Mt. Tabor Park in Portland after holding his 6-year-old daughter as a shield.
Police say the man had spit on a park volunteer Tuesday and threatened the volunteer with a gun. When officers arrived they say the 32-year-old man grabbed the girl and held her across his body.
It was only after several additional officers arrived that he put down the girl and was arrested.
His charges include disorderly conduct, interfering with a police officer, reckless endangering and possessing a weapon in a park.
