SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Oregon’s state economist, Tom Potiowsky (puh-TOW’-skee), is stepping down to return to Portland State University as chairman of its economics department.
State officials announced the resignation Wednesday. The next quarterly revenue forecast will be presented Aug. 26 by Mark McMullen, senior economist in the Office of Economic Analysis. The office prepares forecast on Oregon’s economy and tax collections.
The Statesman Journal reports Potiowsky felt the pressure of being the bearer of bad news and joked that economic conditions should improve as a result of his departure.
