RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Matt Hasselbeck served as a de facto leader when the NFL lockout left players scrambling for organization and structure, just continuing the role he grew into during his decade as the quarterback in Seattle.

When the Seahawks take the field Thursday morning for their first training camp workout, that familiar No. 8 won’t be running out with them, leaving a void and questions about where the Seahawks are headed.

Seattle coach Pete Carroll’s second training camp got under way with a team meeting on Wednesday and will be followed by a pair of walkthrough practices on Thursday. The Seahawks spent the first two days of free agency solving their quarterback situation by bringing on Tarvaris Jackson and watching Hasselbeck agree to a deal with Tennessee.
