Zueva wins women’s 50 backstroke at swim worlds

SHANGHAI (AP) — Fastest qualifier Anastasia Zueva of Russia carried her speed into the race and won the women’s 50-meter backstroke at the world swimming championships.

Zueva, the European champion at 50 and 100 meters, finished the non-Olympic race in 27.79 seconds.

Aya Terakawa of Japan took the silver in 27.93. American Missy Franklin earned the bronze with a time of 28.01.
