1-year-old boy falls from Salem apartment window

SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- Police say a 1-year-old boy suffered a critical head injury in a fall from a second-story apartment window in Salem.
The boy was knocked unconscious Thursday evening when he landed on hard-backed dirt next to a sidewalk. He was taken to Salem Hospital and later flown to a hospital in Portland.
KPTV reports the boy had climbed on a couch and pushed the screen out an open window.
