HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) — Fire officials in the Portland suburb of Hillsboro say a 65-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries Thursday afternoon when he walked in front of a light rail train as it approached a station.

Hillsboro Fire spokesman Storm Smith says the unidentified man landed on a sidewalk. He was not run over by the train.

He was transported to a Portland hospital and his condition was not known Thursday evening.

MAX light rail traffic was delayed about 40 minutes while the victim was treated and police investigated.
