JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have given up on former first-round draft pick Derrick Harvey, releasing the defensive end after three disappointing seasons.

The Jaguars also cut starting guard Vince Manuwai, who showed up at training camp injured, out of shape and overweight. The team also parted ways with defensive back Tyron Brackenridge.

None of the Friday moves came as a big surprise.

Harvey had just eight sacks in 47 career games, including 32 starts. The Jaguars traded up to select Harvey with the eighth overall pick in 2008 and gave him a five-year, $33.4 million contract that included $17.4 million guaranteed. But his production never matched his potential. He was benched last season.

Manuwai injured his left foot last month and couldn’t attempt conditioning tests.
