SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Attendance at Oregon’s public universities is expected to reach a record 100,000 students this fall.
Enrollment at the state’s seven public universities has grown 40 percent in 10 years.
The Statesman Journal reports (http://bit.ly/ob38U5 ) there’s pressures on core courses, classrooms and dormitories. It’s also harder to get into some schools, such as the University of Oregon.
The U of O capped freshmen enrollment this year at about 4,000 students. The grade point average for incoming freshman has risen from 3.4 to 3.6.
