OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Katelyn Boyd homered, Mandy Urfer had a two-run single and top-seeded Arizona State beat Oklahoma 3-1 Thursday night at the Women’s College World Series.
The Sun Devils (56-6) capitalized on wildness by Sooners ace Keilani Ricketts (29-14) in the fourth, with Kaylyn Castillo drawing a leadoff walk before Annie Lockwood got hit by a pitch on her right elbow. Urfer followed Krista Donnenwirth’s sacrifice by grounding a single up the middle to make it 2-0.
Haley Nix cut the deficit in half with an RBI double for Oklahoma (41-18) in the fifth before Boyd answered with leadoff homer in the bottom of the inning.
Dallas Escobedo (33-3) pitched a complete game to win her 15th straight decision for Arizona State.
