A fire northeast of La Center destroyed a 20-by-20-foot shed Wednesday night, but firefighters from two departments prevented it from spreading to a house about 80 feet away, an official said.
Firefighters were called at 8 p.m. Wednesday to 4614 N.E. 372nd St. and the first crew arrived nine minutes later to find it ruined, said Battalion Chief Tim Dawdy with Clark County Fire & Rescue.
Fire District 10, based in Amboy, assisted on scene.
Damage was estimated at $20,000 and the cause was under investigation by the Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office.
The property is owned by Douglas and Lynn Gatter, according to county records.
