WENATCHEE, Wash. (AP) — Police say a man who went to help with a disabled vehicle was assaulted by the driver Thursday night in Wenatchee.

The good Samaritan, 53-year-old Jose Guadalupe Garcia of East Wenatchee, was punched in the face. He fell to the ground, hit his head and has not regained consciousness.

Police say the driver also assaulted an officer who arrived at the scene and tried to rip the radio off his uniform and take his gun from the holster. The officer used a Taser to subdue the man and arrested him with the help of other officers.

The motive for the assaults is unknown. Police booked 49-year-old Juan Gonzalez of Wenatchee into the Chelan County jail for investigation of assault, resisting arrest and attempting to disarm an officer.
