ELKO, Nev. (AP) -- A Ruby Pipeline contractor is being fined $36,000 in Nevada for violations in a trench accident that killed a worker in December and a truck crash that hurt seven workers in October.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports that Precision Pipeline LLC of Eau Claire, Wis., is contesting the Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration findings.
The company was fined $28,000 for the Dec. 7 death of 61-year-old Charles C. Kuhn, of Dresden, Ohio.
Nevada OSHA didn't identify the cause of the accident. But an investigator found several possible contributing factors, including the movement of pipe supports.
Precision Pipeline was fined $8,000 for the Oct. 23 truck crash north of Deeth.
El Paso Corp. plans to open the $3 billion, 678-mile natural gas pipeline from Wyoming to Oregon this summer.
