EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — While her heart is in the 200 meters, Allyson Felix certainly doesn’t mind the success she’s recently had running 200 more.
Felix will compete in the 400 on Saturday at the Prefontaine Classic, the fourth stop on the international Diamond League circuit. She is the defending champion in the event.
Other athletes taking part in the meet include sprinter Justin Gatlin and South Africa’s Caster Semenya, who was sidelined for much of 2010 because of a gender dispute.
Felix is the defending Diamond League champion in both the 200 and 400. She won four 400s on the Diamond League circuit last year, but she is more widely known for her prowess in the 200. She is a three-time world champion and a two-time Olympic silver medalist in the event.
