EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A man who claims to be affiliated with a gang of violent transients who ride freight trains is being held in Oregon pending extradition to California or Texas to face murder charges in those states.

The Register-Guard reports that 43-year-old Michael Allen Thompson — also known as Michael Adams — was arrested May 17 in Clark County, Wash.

He was brought to Lane County on a charge of failing to appear in court on drug charges after an arrest in Eugene in 2000.

Oregon authorities later confirmed Thompson was wanted by police investigating deaths in El Paso, Texas, and in Placer County, Calif.

Lane County court records show Thompson has waived extradition to California but has not agreed to surrender to Texas authorities. His attorney was not immediately available Friday.
