Oregon jury finds police did not retaliate

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A federal jury has decided that Portland police did not retaliate against a recruit after she filed complaints of alleged crimes and misconduct against her training coach.

The Oregonian reports the jury on Friday rejected claims by former recruit Lindsay Hunt in her federal whistleblower lawsuit.

Her attorneys had argued that Hunt reported alleged misconduct and policy violations by her coach in good faith, only to be made to feel unsafe on the street and that her job was in jeopardy.

City attorneys argued the training division assured Hunt they’d support her, offered to move her to a new coach at a different precinct and begged her to stay. She resigned in June 2007.
