INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — The favorite Smokey Lonesome beat Blue Chagall by a half-length to win the $60,000 feature at Hollywood Park on Friday night.

Ridden by Joe Talamo, Smokey Lonesome sat second behind Ace of Aces for most of the race, an allowance for older horses, then took the lead in the final yards, covering 1 1-16 miles on the turf in 1:41.77.

Smokey Lonesome paid $6, $2.80 and $2.10. Blue Chagall paid $3 and $2.40. Ace of Aces faded to third and paid $2.60 to show.

A 5-year-old gelding trained by Art Sherman, Smokey Lonesome earned $36,000 for the win, his fourth in 11 starts, for a lifetime total of $182,610.
