Defense rests after doctor praises Ore. couple

OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) -- The defense has rested in the faith-healing trial of an Oregon City couple charged with criminal mistreatment for failing to seek medical care for their infant daughter.
The Oregonian reports one of the last witnesses on the stand Monday was a doctor who praised Timothy and Rebecca Wyland for their compliance with court-ordered medical care for their daughter, Alayna.
The girl had a large growth over her left eye, leaving her on the verge of blindness. Her condition has since improved.
The Wylands belong to the Followers of Christ church, which embraces faith healing and rejects medical care.
Closing arguments, originally expected Tuesday, are now scheduled to begin Monday afternoon.
