SHERWOOD, Ore. (AP) — Police in a Portland suburb say a murder arrest warrant has been issued for a 38-year-old Sherwood woman accused in the strangulation death of her 11-year-old daughter.

Sherwood police Chief Jeff Groth said Tuesday that the warrant accuses Kristina Buckley in the death of her daughter, Cecelia Buckley.

Police and fire crews who responded last Thursday to a report of an injured child found the girl inside a home. She was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The mother was also transported to a hospital for treatment of self-inflicted wounds. Groth says she remains hospitalized.

The Washington County Major Crimes Team is investigating.
