CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Sam Hornish Jr. will return to the Sprint Cup Series for the first time this season at Pocono Raceway.

Hornish will replace Travis Kvapil in the No. 38 Ford for Front Row Motorsports. Kvapil will spend the weekend racing in the Trucks Series event at Texas.

Hornish is a three-time IndyCar champion. He made 108 starts for Penske Racing in the Cup series, but has been out of a full-time ride this year.

Hornish has decent results at Pocono. In six career Cup starts, he has one top-five, two top-10s and four top-15s.

Hornish has made five Nationwide Series starts this season, with a high finish of seventh at Richmond last month.
