MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A southern Oregon community theater actor is facing a second trial on a sex abuse charge accusing him of kissing and caressing a girl after a jury deadlocked in his first trial.

The Mail Tribune reports that 38-year-old Sunshine Sweetwater Bucy will get a new judge and a new defense attorney at the second trial.

The first trial in Jackson County Circuit Court included testimony from the alleged victim and dozens of witnesses. The girl testified that Bucy kissed her, nuzzled her neck, touched her upper thigh and tried to unzip her sweatshirt during a party last July at his Ashland apartment complex.

Bucy has consistently maintained his innocence. His new defense attorney, Jeni Feinberg, will represent him at a pretrial hearing scheduled July 18.
