Rejected Tri-Cities butt billboards still work

KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) — Although a Tri-Cities health board rejected billboards saying, “What’s up your butt?” the publicity has still helped raise awareness of the risk of colon cancer.

Susan Shelton with the Benton-Franklin Health District told KONA that without putting up a billboard the district has heard from people locally, nationally, and from the United Kingdom, Malaysia and China about colorectal exams for older adults.

The “butt” billboards were displayed in Yakima, but the Benton-Franklin district commissioners decided against a similar campaign in the Tri-Cities last month because some thought the ads were too offensive.
