A fire that briefly threatened to damage a house destroyed a motor home in the North Image neighborhood early Wednesday.
The fire was reported at 1:45 a.m. at 13100 N.E. 46th St. A neighbor alerted family members inside the home after hearing the sound of an explosion, said Vancouver Firefighter Kevin Stromberg. Family members then exited safely.
The fire rapidly consumed the older motor home, which was parked in the yard. It briefly threatened to spread to the nearby house but was contained.
Stromberg said the fire was brought under control in five minutes. The house is livable and the family will not be displaced, he said.
The recreational vehicle was a total loss. No one was inside at the time, Stromberg said.
According to county property records, the house is owned by Robert and Elaine Rourke.
