Letter: Sign anti-light rail petition

Published: June 7, 2011, 5:00pm

This is a reminder that the time to sign the petition circulated by Larry Patella regarding extending Portland’s light rail into Vancouver is drawing to a close on June 9.

The petition would accomplish two things if placed on the ballot in November and passed by voters.

  1. It would prohibit city of Vancouver officials to promote or establish light rail.

  2. It also would prohibit Vancouver from using city funds for light rail.

If you would like to sign this petition, there are two easy points of access: Harry’s Lawn & Power Equipment, 1912 Main St., Vancouver; or Carpet City, 2113 East Fourth Plain, Vancouver.

There are only two requirements:

  1. You need to be a registered voter.

  2. You need to live within the Vancouver city limits; maps are available at each location.

Thank you for your concern regarding light rail coming into Vancouver.

Debbie Peterson, Vancouver
