Lincoln — A neighborhood committee has updated the Lincoln Neighborhood Association’s action plan for the first time since 1998. An action plan is a neighborhood association’s formal declaration of priorities and needs. Lincoln neighbors want: better and safer sidewalk connections; saner, slower traffic on main streets; retention of the historic neighborhood character; appropriate business development, especially along Main Street, and preservation of the Memorial Campus of Southwest Washington Medical Center; a “Summit Crossing” commercial hub on the west side of Main Street at 39th; and a “North Main Green Space” pulling together the natural assets of Kiggins Bowl, Covington House, numerous trailheads and a barely used state transportation department parking lot. The group will vote to adopt the plan at its next meeting, set for 7 p.m. June 13 at Lincoln Elementary School. After that, it heads to the Vancouver City Council for formal recognition.
