White Sox put Peavy on DL with groin strain
Wednesday, June 8, 2011
CHICAGO (AP) -- White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy has been placed on the disabled list with a mild groin strain after leaving his start most recent start.
The move made Wednesday is retroactive to Monday, the day after Peavy came out of a game against the Detroit Tigers after four innings. The 30-year-old Peavy started on the season on the DL rehabbing from surgery to repair a muscle in his right shoulder.
Peavy is 2-1 with a 4.66 ERA in five starts this year.
The team recalled right-hander Lucas Harrell from Triple-A Charlotte to take his place on the roster. Harrell has appeared once with the White Sox this season, allowing four runs in four innings on May 29 against the Toronto Blue Jays.
