Bridge lifts for ‘Fleet Week’ to cause delays in Portland

The arrival of naval vessels making up the Rose Festival’s Fleet will jam traffic today in Portland.

Between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. today, the Broadway, Steel, Burnside and Morrison bridges will be lifted for up to 20 minutes to allow ships from U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and the Canadian Maritime Forces to dock along Portland’s waterfront for the weekend.

Trimet’s MAX trains and buses will be delayed.

Travelers into Portland can use the Fremont Bridge, which, at 175 feet, is tall enough to allow ships to pass.
