SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) — A fugitive from Virginia has been arrested in Oregon on charges of robbing a man responding to an online ad for a car.

KEZI-TV reports that 29-year-old Venus Vishal Chand was arrested Thursday after a brief foot chase when detectives spotted him in a parking lot in Eugene.

Chand was also charged with felon in possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon.

Springfield police said 22-year-old Anthony Dagostino was robbed of $4,000 after he came to Springfield from Medford on Wednesday to purchase a vehicle advertised on Craigslist.

Police said Chand also faces a fugitive warrant from Fairfax County, Virginia. A Lane County Circuit Court clerk said Chand was in jail awaiting an arraignment hearing when an attorney would be assigned.
