ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) — Preliminary results from an autopsy on a 16-year-old southern Oregon boy found dead in Ashland Creek found no evidence of foul play and indicated he possibly drowned.

The Ashland Daily Tidings reports the Jackson County medical examiner’s office found no sign of trauma to the body of Ashland High School student Sammy Hayes.

But officials said Friday the autopsy was inconclusive and that more information may come from toxicology tests, expected to take four to six weeks.

Hayes was last seen at the Ashland High School graduation last Friday. His family reported him missing on Saturday and his body was found in the creek on Tuesday.
