HOUSTON (AP) — An aide to wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords says the Arizona congresswoman could be released from her rehabilitation hospital in Houston as early as this month.

Chief of Staff Pia Carusone tells The Associated Press that the congresswoman may leave TIRR Memorial Hermann by the end of this month or early July. However, there is no set date for Giffords release.

Her husband astronaut Mark Kelly has said she would continue outpatient therapy in Houston upon her release.

Five months ago, Giffords was shot in the head at a meet-and-greet with constituents in Tucson. Six people were killed in the Jan. 8 shooting rampage and Giffords was among 13 people who were wounded.
