State Rep. Sharon Wylie, D-Vancouver, will hold a campaign kickoff event at 5:30 p.m. today at The Atrium, 606 Broadway in Vancouver. Wylie, who was appointed to the Legislature in April, is running for election to fill out the second year of the term left vacant by the resignation of former Rep. Jim Jacks in the 49th District.

Republican Craig Riley, a Vancouver insurance and investment adviser, has filed to run against Wylie.

Tuesday’s free event will feature a no-host bar, free snacks and an opportunity for Wylie campaign volunteers to meet and socialize, Wylie said.

Under state campaign rules, Wylie was not permitted to raise money toward her campaign during the recently completed regular and special legislative sessions.
