NEW YORK (AP) — Court documents show Dominique Strauss-Kahn declared he had diplomatic immunity and complained about his handcuffs after he was taken into custody on allegations he tried to rape a Manhattan hotel maid.
The documents filed by prosecutors Thursday provide a chronological transcript of events leading to the arrest of the former leader of the International Monetary Fund. Strauss-Kahn was taken into custody by Port Authority police at John F. Kennedy International Airport on May 14 as he tried to leave on a flight.
The documents show Strauss-Kahn seemingly confused by the situation, asking detectives whether he needs an attorney. He says repeatedly, “What is this about?” At another point, he says: “These handcuffs are tight.”
Strauss-Kahn maintains he did not attack the maid at Sofitel hotel. He is under house arrest.
