REDMOND, Wash. (AP) — A fire at a Puget Sound Energy substation in Redmond knocked power out for about 25,000 customers for an afternoon.
Utility spokeswoman Allison Stanford says no one was injured in a fire at a Puget Sound Energy substation in Redmond. The fire started about 12:30 p.m. Thursday and put up a column of smoke visible on Seattle’s east side.
The Redmond Fire Department says the fire was caused by a mineral oil from a high-voltage transformer at the facility, adding that PSE is investigating the cause of the equipment failure.
Stanford says PSE crews were able to restore power to all customers by about 3 p.m.
