Clark Public Utilities has won the Energy Star Leadership in Housing Award for its sponsorship of energy-efficient homebuilding in Clark County, the utility said Wednesday.
Working with local homebuilders, Clark PUD encourages installation of energy-efficient lighting, appliances and heating systems during new home construction.
In 2010, 39 percent of homes built in Clark County received Energy Star certification, “making this program the most successful in the Pacific Northwest,” the utility said in a news release.
