WIMBLEDON, England (AP) — Novak Djokovic enters Wimbledon on a one-match “losing streak.”

The second-ranked Serb hasn’t played in a tournament since his 43-match run ended with a loss to Roger Federer in the French Open semifinals.

Djokovic can start a new winning streak by beating Jeremy Chardy of France in the first round at Wimbledon, where play begins Monday. If Djokovic is going to go on to win his first title at the All England Club — and third major championship overall — he might have to get past Federer in the semifinals.

For Federer, that’s just fine.

Says the 16-time Grand Slam champion: “I know I can beat Novak on any surface. I’ve done that in the past.”
