SAO PAULO (AP) — Brazilian soccer great Romario says he once thought his country would hold the best World Cup in history in 2014 — but not anymore.

The former striker turned congressman says “things are not going to happen” and “unfortunately there will be problems.”

He says it would be a good idea if Brazilian soccer federation president Ricardo Teixeira left as head of the local organizing committee.

Romario’s remarks came in an interview published Monday with the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper.
