Royal Currier wins Monmouth feature

OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) — Royal Currier cruised to victory in the $65,000 Anderson Fowler Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sunday, beating Christiesborntorun by 114 lengths.

Ridden by Joe Bravo and trained by Patricia Farro, the 3-year-old gelding ran 512 furlongs on the firm turf course in 1:02 and paid $4.60, $3.40 and $2.80. It was the sixth win in 12 career starts for Royal Currier, who has earned $235,950.

In the co-feature, Gunfighter drew off in the stretch to win the $65,000 Bernie Dowd Handicap by three lengths over Adduce. Trained by Steve Klesaris and ridden by Jose Valdiva Jr., the 4-year-old gelding ran a mile and 70 yards on a fast track in 1:41 3-5 and returned $4.80, $3.60 and $2.80.
