SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) — The budget passed by the Springfield City Council Monday night cuts 16 jobs.

Finance Director Bob Duey says all but three of the cuts have been accomplished through retirements and voluntary departures.

The Register Guard reports the council also voted to charge people who live outside the Eugene-Springfield area when they have car accidents or require other medical response or rescue by the fire department. The fees range from $450 to $1,800.
