1 suspect in Yakima shooting is victim's cousin

YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) -- A man arrested for investigation of his role in a fatal Yakima shooting is the victim's cousin.

Police say it's only a coincidence and that the 21-year-old, Ivan Izazaga, didn't know his cousin, Yecenia Guerrero, was in the car targeted for a shooting.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports the 24-year-old teacher's assistant was out with two friends June 12 when their car was mistakenly identified -- by Izazaga -- as a car carrying someone with whom he had been fighting.

Guerrero was shot through the heart and lungs and died within seconds in a Taco Bell parking lot.

Police are still looking for the man they believe to be the gunman, a 21-year-old friend of Izazaga's.

Izazaga was in court Monday and was ordered held on $1 million bail.
