Husband of Kansas softball coach Smith dies

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — The husband of Kansas softball coach Megan Smith has died.

The university says Paul Buske died Tuesday after a bout with cancer. He was 40.

In a statement, athletics director Sheahon Zenger described Buske as a “terrific husband” to Smith and father to their son, Cooper. Zenger says Buske was a “spirited, supportive fan of Kansas softball.”

Smith has coached the Jayhawks since 2009.
