PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (AP) — Port Orchard and Bainbridge Island marine patrol boats have been equipped with instruments to detect radioactivity.

Officers took part in a training exercise Tuesday to locate harmless isotopes aboard two vessels.

The Kitsap Sun reports 23 agencies around Puget Sound have radiation detection equipment funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency and administered by the Puget Sound Area Maritime Security Committee.
