Festival moving plays to other sites

ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) — With its Angus Bowmer Theatre closed due to a crack in a main support beam, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival is moving plays scheduled there to two other sites this week. The festival says restaged versions with full casts, costumes and props will be offered Thursday and Sunday at the Historic Ashland Armory. On Friday and Saturday, they will be offered at the Dorothy Stolp Theater on the Southern Oregon University campus.

The Angus Bowmer Theatre was closed Saturday after the beam problem was discovered. Festival Executive Director Paul Nicholson says the festival is working with engineers to determine what repairs are necessary and how long they will take.

Festival performances on the Elizabethan Stage and in the New Theatre are unaffected.
