CINCINNATI (AP) — The Reds activated right-hander Sam LeCure off the 15-day disabled list and optioned left-hander starter Travis Wood to Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.
LeCure has been sidelined since May 29 by a sore right forearm. He’s 0-1 with a 3.18 earned run average in four starts and eight relief appearances. Manager Dusty Baker likes to use him as the long reliever.
Wood was 5-5 with a 5.11 ERA in 16 starts. He gave up four runs in seven innings of a 5-3 loss to the Yankees on Monday night. His spot in the rotation could be taken by Homer Bailey, who’s ready to return from a rehab assignment.
Bailey has been on the DL since May 28 with a strained shoulder.
