VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — Five archaeology students have been recording information from gravestones this week in Vancouver’s 144-year-old Old City Cemetery.
The Columbian reports inscriptions are being lost to vandalism and weathering.
The college students’ findings will help the Clark County Genealogical Society maintain the cemetery.
The project is part of the annual field school conducted by Doug Wilson, a National Park Service archaeologist based at Fort Vancouver.
