ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Shakespeare Festival has been given approval for setting up a stage and 600-seat tent in an Ashland city park while an indoor theater is repaired.
The Ashland Daily Tidings reports the city Parks & Recreation Commission held a special meeting Wednesday to hear the proposal from the festival’s executive director, Paul Nicholson.
The commission unanimously approved setting up a 66-by-120-foot tent in Lithia Park, just below the festival’s outdoor Elizabethan Stage.
Festival officials closed the 600-seat Bowmer Theater after discovering it had a cracked main support beam last Saturday. Repairs may take three to six weeks.
