PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A 21-year-old Oregon man accused of posing as a doctor at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland has pleaded not guilty to charges related to the investigation.

KGW-TV reports that Luke Ebert of Beaverton pleaded not guilty Thursday in Multnomah County Circuit Court to criminal mistreatment — for the impersonation accusations — and theft, for allegedly writing bad checks.

Witnesses told investigators that Ebert was offering to perform medical procedures and give medical advice while using a fake hospital ID and wearing scrubs.

So far, there’s no evidence Ebert had any access to patient information or secure areas of the hospital.

Court documents said Ebert is also accused of passing nearly $2,300 in bad checks at a Portland hotel.
