The Mount St. Helens Institute is hosting the Volcanic Verse event at 1 and 2 p.m. June 29, at the Johnston Ridge Observatory. Since the eruption of Mount St. Helens in 1980, scientists have continued research on the volcano. Two men will be sharing their work: Derek Sheffield, a poet who combines literature and science into his poems, and Simmons Buntin, a poet and founding editor.

Both men were a part of “Pulse” in July 2010, which featured 10 poets and writers from around the world. The event is free with admission to the monument. For more information about the event, visit www.mshinstitute.org.
