OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The Washington state fire marshal’s office hopes people keep safety in mind when fireworks stands open Tuesday for the Fourth of July.
Last year there were 575 fires, injuries and other fireworks-related incidents. Of the 162 injuries reported in the state, 50 were to children under the age of 14.
The office says adult supervision is the key to keeping children safe.
The fire marshal recommends attending a public fireworks display instead of setting off your own explosives. A list of public displays is posted on the fire marshal’s website.
