Friday, June 24, 2011
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- Police say an Oregon man accused of shooting and wounding a co-worker at a Eugene equipment repair shop is the son of the shop's owners.
Police arrested 39-year-old Dale O'Callaghan on Friday morning at LHM Hydraulics for investigation of first-degree assault.
The victim was identified as 33-year-old Jerry Andrews of Eugene. The Register-Guard reports that witnesses say he appeared to be shot in the shoulder. The victim was listed in serious condition at an area hospital.
Investigators have not discussed a possible motive. The newspaper says O'Callaghan remained at the shop until police arrived and arrested him. He is expected to appear in Circuit Court on Monday.
The Register-Guard says his relatives could not be reached for comment. Workers at the business declined to talk about the shooting.
