LONDON (AP) — Marathon world-record holder Paula Radcliffe will run in the Berlin Marathon in September, her first race at this distance in nearly two years.

Radcliffe’s last marathon was in November 2009 when she was fourth at the New York City event, a race she has won three times.

Berlin Marathon organizers said Saturday the fast course was a “major reason” for Radcliffe’s participation in the Sept. 25 race. The 37-year-old Radcliffe, who won the marathon at the 2005 world championships, can qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.

The English long-distance runner made her comeback on May 30 after an 18-month absence from competition, finishing third in a 10-kilometer road race in London.

She gave birth to her second child in September last year.
